1 in 10 have experienced workplace retaliation

An ethics business survey of 2,000 workers asked workers if they ever experienced retaliation from managers and or co-workers as a result of their reporting of a potential ethics violation. 88% of the workers surveyed said no while 12% said yes they have experienced retaliation.

So roughly 1 in 10 American workers have experienced retaliation from their bosses. No wonder so much illegal/unethical behavior happens in the work place.

How does the saying go the “squeaky wheel gets the oil” well in the American workplace the squeaky wheel just might end up getting fired….It really is sad

Personally I have not experienced retaliation from management however I have seen it happen to people I work with.

It is not surprising

that many people choose to ignore issues in the workplace - either put their heads down and hope it goes away, or in many cases move on. I've reported things (as a nurse you see a few!!!) and I've not been treated well. These days there is more support for "whistle blowers" but you still have to find a witness or someone who believes in you. I guess too, we have voice recorders, film, surveillance cameras etc which does help a little.
