A Bed Museum

Our college takes us on an excursion each month - and they are like "mystery trips" as we are given scant information about them. Often we have the name of a town or city or tourist spot and that is all.

Wuzhen 023

On Sunday five of the foreign teachers went on a bus tour to Wuzhen and Haining. Wuzhen is a famous water town that goes back 2000 years BC. In the town there were some fascinating exhibitions of life in China many years ago, and one of the most fascinating was a Bed Museum.

It was truly amazing!

There were the most amazing carved beds all with information in Chinese and English. It was an extra ordinary exhibition. I'm sure these beds were from the homes of the wealthy - but the work and detail that had been put in to create them so many years ago was breathtaking.

Wuzhen is not that far from Shanghai - so if ever you are visiting China, I'd put it on my listof very interesting places to visit.

all with a different story. Quite amazing!
