A blonde in China.

It's quite funny and getting slightly annoying, but I guess I'd better get used to it as I have four months left here.

I'm a blonde - helped along by some product of course, but I was always a blonde, and as I've gotten older my hair went a mousy colour - so I lightened it - one day using too much, with a surprising and happy result!

But in China there are few blondes. The local people of course have black hair, though some of the young folk have purple streaks or highlights, they'd be hard pressed to get to my colour I suspect.

Anyway wherever I go, people stare at me! Almost with open mouth in disbelief! I chuckle, especially when they can't stop looking and almost walk into poles or other people.

The older men and women are the worst. They just can't believe it. Many man who know little English call out to me. "Hello! Hello!" I wave and keep moving.

When I was in town on Friday there were a group of policemen - and they excitedly waved to me - much to the concern of the fellow (Aussie) who was with me.

I don't feel any concern. I might wave if they call out to me - but I keep moving. I just laugh! (And wonder what explanation they might have when they meet and talk with their friends or family!)

So funny for me.
