A Royal Hatty Hero

Another of my hatty heroes is HM the Queen, Elizabeth the second. She is at present on tour in the USA. Yesterday she was visiting Jamestown to celebrate the anniversary of the first settlement. Her hat was a lovely confection in beautiful almost irridescent colours it was hard to say just which colours they were as they seemed to shimmer, change and merge but there was a turquoise/ pale blue and pinky peach in there. The hat was shady, yet elegant and perfect for the occasion.

Today The Queen realises a long held ambition and visits the Kentucky Derby, for the first time. Her great love of horses and racing is well known and she will enjoy the visit immensely. The Queen breeds and races her own horses and is very knowledgable about both racing and bloodstock. Wonder what kind of hat she will wear to the races?

She does it so well

I envy her her flair for hats. I can't wear hats - they make me look dumpy, and I have a very small head (it's all brain mind!) - so only children's hats fit me. The only hats I wear are in the garden, or when I am walking, and they are the kind that can be adjusted. But not an elegant look!

Teebug, I adore little pill-box type hats with veils but can't

wear them, on Princess Diana they look elegant, on me they look ridiculous.

I love hats and wish I could afford more, but I enjoy the hats I have and wear them at every opportunity.

Yes, she really does set the scene

with her hats. I loved the staff carrying the hat boxes off the royal plane too.

Well I told you she is one of my hatty heroes, three hats in one

day sounds good to me. Thank-you Fff for your information, hatty minds need to be aware of these things lol

She wore three hats on Saturday, Hatsrus

one at the Derby, one at a reception and another later at a formal gathering.

Live Well, Learn Much, Laugh Often

I'll bet she enjoyed the Derby most Fff. Her ambition is to win

the other Derby at Epsom in S.E.England with one of her horses.
