Pucker Up Rhubarb

Pucker up! It's rhubarb season. Time to bring on the rhubarb crisp, rhubarb pie, and rhubarb crunch. You either like rhubarb or you don't. There doesn't seem to be a middle of the road.

This photo I took of rhubarb stalks from my sister's garden, since my rhubarb plant is a miniature yet. I lifted the toxic leaves and captured a view of rhubarb stalks growing. If you snap them off at the bottom, cut off the leaves, and chop them into a centimeter to an inch chop, you have the makings of some wonderful desserts and jams. Of course, because rhubarb is so sour, you will need lots of sweetener.

Pink Rose Soft

Pink rose soft, that’s what this photo reminds me of. I was experimenting with my digital camera, a Fuji FinePix S700, and happened upon this photo. I say happened, because I’m not certain which setting accomplished it. It’s all experimental at this stage for me. But someday, I hope to be able to achieve a particular photo on purpose, especially one as soft in texture as this pink rose.

Weathered Fence

Something as simple as a nail in a fence can make the most interesting photo. This nail is lodged in a fencepost between my neighbor's house and mine. It's a closeup supermacro shot taken from my digital Fuji FinePix S700 camera. You can see the detail in the fibers of the board.
