Polling of people's opinions and positions is very common during political campaigns. I think it has almost grown to an obsession with some people. Polls are prone to error, spin and varying interpretations. Often times, polls are used more to influence public opinion than to measure it.

The most powerful atom smasher ever built came online on Wednesday, eagerly awaited by scientists worldwide for two decades. The machine is at CERN, the European organisation for nuclear research where a closer look will be taken at the make-up of "matter". This was a practice run with the actual collision to come in October.
New Zealand's Marineland loses last dolphin...
The last captive dolphin at Napier's Marineland has died. Napier is in the Hawkes Bay, on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island.
Kelly, who was aged 38- year- old had been battling illness over the last week, but Marineland manager, Gary Macdonald says he did not expect her to pass away so quickly. He says staff are devastated, but relieved she did not suffer.
