Bail bondsmen

Bail bonds is a booming industry in the United States. We even have popular TV shows about bounty hunters chasing wanted people. While in other counties such as England and Canada Bail bonds are illegal.

Bonds became the most popular form of pre-trial release in 1998 up 24% a decade ago. Bail bonds is definitely an American tradition dating back to the 18th century.

that sort of thing should not be in private hands. I'm against private security firms transporting prisoners to and from court too. Do you remember my post about little Liam Ashby being fatally assaulted in a security van in Auckland by a felon a couple of years ago. All rorts of changes have been made since his death, and he was only on bail.

I'm not sure Huttriver but I think bail bonds are unique too the United States. Personally I don't like them. I feel that law enforcement should be left too the police not bounty hunters...
