Carry On, Jeeves

This comedy fiction is made up of eight stories, all written by P.G. Wodehouse (1881 – 1975). He was born in Surrey England and eventually became an American citizen in 1955.

“From the moment Jeeves glides into Bertie Wooster’s life, providing him with a magical hangover cure, Bertie knows he has found the gentleman’s gentleman. Jeeves saves the chronically befuddled Bertie from every jam, even going so far as to follow him to the wilds of New York City.”

Even though these stories were originally published in 1925, the humor is rich and the stories will keep your attention. And best of all, Jeeves is amazing. Maybe you have heard of the website askjeeves.com. Well I don’t know for certain, but I would imagine it was named after this very same Jeeves.

The eight stories are:

Jeeves Takes Charge
The Rummy Affair of Old Biffy
Clustering Round Young Bingo
Without the Option
The Artistic Career of Corky
The Aunt and the Sluggard
Jeeves and the Unbidden Guest
Jeeves and the Hard-Boiled Egg

Try it, you’ll like it.

Yes djbtol, because Jeeves always knew the answer to any

problem

The Bertie Wooster books by PG Woodhouse are evocative

of the time in which they are set. They poke fun at the aristocracy and they are a good read. The TV series was also very good. The humour is mostly gentle and ironic, especially when Jeeves is dealing with some of his master's wilder flights of fancy.

Thanks for responding

I enjoyed the stories and see what you mean about poking fun. The calmness of Jeeves, in and of itself, was often funny.
