Chicken Manure: What do you think of it

My brother in law has a farm in the province. He is just so kind to send me a sack of chicken manure for my hobby---obviously that is gardening.

They say that chicken manure is very rich in nitrogen. It is very good supplement for other fertilizers. It lacks nutrients for plants---they say?

What do you think of it?

By the way I don't have the chicken manure for my garden that comes in pellets from stores. What I have are the dried chicken manure from the farm in a sack.

Is this better than the one in pellets?

Dig it in...

well. It is the pig manure you have to be careful with.

I never tried pig manure for a garden and never heard of that. But thank you for the tip.

I've heard

Heard that it's better to season it over a year or so so it's not so hot.

To Season?

How to do that please?
Just store the sack of manure in a year?
Thanks

My definition, Neil

Has been to let something season on the ground. I've heard of folks just leaving the pile set a year, maybe turning it over once or twice. But that seasoning makes it not so hot on plants. This is done with rabbit pellets and horse doo too. But I'm no expert.

Hot stuff is chicken poo

It can burn some plants - I think one has to take care when using it. Great way to use the waste though, and it surely will improve your garden.

Yes you are right

Perhaps it is better to use it 1/10 with the soil. I agree it can burn plants. I had a sad experienced with fertilizers burning plants. Thanks.
