Cute Chinese children

I see quite a few children - there are some that visit the college, and others I see in the bus and 'in town.' They are cute. All children are cute - especially little ones.

It has been so cold in these parts - I think I heard that it has been the coldest weather in 50 years - and the children are well and truly rugged up to keep out the winter chill. I've not seen children as rugged up - there's no need at home.

Apparently they have several layers of clothing (isn't that the best way to keep warm?), such that their little arms and legs cannot bend because of the layers of clothing. They look like wooden dolls. The little shoes they wear too are so padded it would be difficult for them to run around. I don't think it would be possible to suck their thumbs even.

Best that mummy or daddy carry them - and of course they can't get into too much trouble then, eh?

Elly, what kind of heat do most Chinese people use

to heat their homes?

I will have to find out.

I don't think there is much heating except in modern homes where there are reverse cycle airconditioners (which cause more problems because of increased use of power and pollution from power stations.)

It's funny

for the most part they don't seem to mind. They stand (can't sit!) on their mother's lap as if that is all OK.
