Do Healthy "Tips" Ultimately Help or Hurt Your Weight Loss Plan?

You see them in nearly every weight-loss book and on nearly every weight-loss web site but do little "quick tips" like "take the stairs" and "park at the far end of the parking lot" really help you lose weight? Or do they just lull you into a false sense of accomplishment?

How many calories do you burn while casually walking up a flight of stairs, anyway? My personal belief is that these little tips and tricks can never replace a conscientiously applied exercise program and, at worst, can make it easier for some people to justify that extra scooop of ice cream.

Thoughts?

Every little bit helps

I think, since we have a big problem with obesity. I guess one trip up or down the stairs is of limited value, but if you do it all the time it can be helpful. The point is to get people moving more.
