We know we are in a drought, especially when the dry winds pick up the red outback dust and throw it around Australia. As I sit here there is an eerie feeling as this red dust fills the air - it is also quite hot, so closing all the windows to shut it out makes it very uncomfortable inside.
In some parts of Australia the dust has caused havoc with airlines, and some shops have closed down. It certainly is unsafe to drive on some of our roads.
My daughter took her children to the movies and she phoned me when she came out. "What is happening, Mum? The sky is almost red and it is so weird."
Certainly is. Good topsoil from the dry farming lands is being picked up and relocated. There must be tons of dust and dirt in the air.
It will pass.

I remember when I was a kid
I remember when I was a kid and I saw this huge dust storm blowing in over the horizon and I thought it was the end of the world. There is going to be a lot of cleaning to be done, and I reckon a lot of farms must be missing their topsoil.
