Elly and the roos...

Elly and her kangaroo kin? The kangaroo is reportedly far more closely related to humans than previously believed, Australian researchers at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Kangaroo Genomics or KanGo claimed recently.

They published the first detailed map of the kangaroo genome recently. Genes in the kangaroo were similar to those in humans, director Professor Jenny Graves said. "There are a few differences, we have a few more of this, a few less of that, but they are the same genes and a lot of them are in the same order."

Guess that

would be a way to explain away a person's ponch around the middle and short stubby arms.

Right now I'd

be keen to be wearing a kangaroo skin to keep me warm - it's cold here. Yes, I saw that research. But wait a moment - someone will refute it shortly. Are our genes closer to monkeys or kangaroos?
