I spent the first week of the New Year on a little vacation, visiting some of the historical sites in Texas and visiting old friends. We had a great time and enjoyed the R&R.
I got home to some good things and some bad things. I had a surprise visit form a friend I had not seen in over twenty years. She had been a young girl in my early efforts at ministry. She had a rough upbringing and now she is very successful and happily married, the mother of a wonderful family. It was a joy to see her and hear the good things that have happened to her.
I also returned to the news that a very good friend has discovered an aneurysm in the base of his brain. There has been no decision yet as to whether surgery will be possible. He is facing the prospects with courage and faith, but it is not good news.
Comments
Thanks for all the sentiments, my friend
is still in limbo about the treatments, if any for his condition. There is a chance that he will be transferred into Houston before any thing is settled. Ken, glad for your friend's improvement, but you are right, it is sobering. Spookyyank, I hope the bad doesn't overwhelm the good! Jane I will pray and honor God for whatever He has in store for Travis.
Hutt, we have seen all the historical sites with our daughters, but now we are doing them with the grandsons. We will see the Alamo and the missions in San Antonio in March, Lord willing.

I don't know how
old your grandsons are but when our kids were little, I took them to the Alamo and they just sort of stood around and stared at all the exibits. When we went home, I rented two Alamo movies and after they watched them, I took the kids back....what a huge difference it made in their attitude towards the place. They were enthralled and extremely respectful the second time they went.
(I still like the old John Wayne movie the best.)
Yes the John Wayne version...
was a good one.

I do, Hutts!
Actually, I have 3 sons! They've been with their dad for awhile and I tend to feel weird talking about them when they're not right here to object! lol
But, my oldest is 20 and has decided to go off to college!!!! YAY!!!!!! So, it's very exciting! I just hope he does indeed go - I've been pushing it on them since they were babies.
Good for him!
He has listened to his mom......good going....keep talking....your kids sound like good kids.
Good on him...
I hope he makes you all proud.

Wishing ...
... you friend the very best. Last week a friend of mine who was a high school classmate had a massive heart attack -- but he is doing okay now. It makes you think when someone who is the exact same age as you has a major medical issue. My friend looks perfectly fit for a guy of 50 -- not a pound overweight, does not smoke or drink, yet had a heart attack. It makes you think.
Anyway, glad you had a good vacation!
It seems to be the way
Doesn't it? Good news and bad news coming so close together? This week's been that way for me. On the one hand there's been some good and exciting news from my son. But, there's a shadow over it in the form of Nella's school and the crap there! And to think it's only Tuesday!
Hope your friend is able to correct the problem. Those things are scary!
Prayer
can work miracles.....I know you have the faith...it's up to God to decide.....
That is sad...
and can be fatal. Good news your younger friend has made a success out of her life.
I guess you have seen all the historical sites such as the Alamo?
