How it all began

There is a huge shortage of Nurses in Western Australia. The number quoted in The Western Magazine is 1070. This means that nurses are working extra shifts, double shifts, and often unable to have leave approved at times when we need it. It also means that a lot of hospitals have vacancies. I love my work, and to avoid becoming over worked, I decided that a change was necessary.
So I approached a well known Agency with my CV and I was very quickly accepted and assigned contracts. I now actually work less hours, about 50% of full time, get to choose my destination, and the hours I work. For me this work style is a vast improvement, and also means that I will probably continue in the workforce for a few more years.
Country hospitals are actually reliant on Agency Nurses to fill rosters, so this arrangement suits a lot of people, but most of all, me. In 2008 I intend travelling and working in other states in Oz, through the Agency.
