I Am Thankful I Didn't....

I am thankful I didn’t like it when I tried a cigarette when I was twelve years old. It made me gag and I have never smoked another. My dad lost a lung to cancer from smoking.

I am thankful I didn’t like the taste of alcohol when I tried it at 17. The rum and coke burned my throat and it tasted so bad that I did not even finish the drink. I have never been drunk, and I say that gratefully!

I am thankful I didn’t grow up in the time when drugs became so prevalent that everyone felt compelled to try them. I have never been high on anything except life!

I am thankful that I didn’t stay uneducated. After dropping out of college in the midst of the second semester of my freshman year, it took me over seven years to return to school. My degrees have opened a few doors, but best of all the education continues to this day!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Here is China I have been reminded almost hourly that it is Thanksgiving Day - text messages come to me "I open my wallet, find no money, I open my pocket find no coin, open my life, find you, then I know how rich I am." which is a lovely thought, but they don't always let me know who they are!!!
It is good to remember the things we should be thankful for.

Remembering those things, Elly

should certainly happen more than once a year!

Thirty odd years of smoking finished in 1991...

and excessive drinking not long after that. Thank God that I also wasn't brought up in a time of drug-taking. I have found blogging to get my writing fix.

Good post FF&F. I think we need to be reminded to be

thankful for the things we too often take for granted.

Jeanne, I try to spend a few minutes each morning

expressing gratitude. It helps my attitude toward thing I care about and keeps me from focusing so much on my wanting more!

Happy Thanksgiving!
