Insuring your unborn children...

First published at Qassia:

Well, well! Insuring your unborn children against birth defects, complications and death will be a reality down under this year.

ING Australia launched a policy for women aged 16 - 40 years in May 2008 - providing payouts of up to $50,000 for defects such as Down syndrome, spina bifida and blindness.

ING New Zealand is considering the product and it should be available for the NZ market later in 2008.

Interesting - new territory!

Do the abortionists and those who support abortion know that people are insuring a 'fetal mass' which they would say isn't even quite human?

Are the insurance companies going to require some kind of genetic testing first? If not now, I would say such testing is a given in the future. Insurance companies want to understand and calculate the risk they are taking.

Fear alone will be an adequate sales force to drive this.

The insurance companies seem to have a good plan since they can define/limit the benefit (i.e., $50,000) to be paid out. They can use statistics for these defects, build in some margin and probably design a profitable program.
