Kicking Off A New Blog!

A few days ago, on my Family Fun and Faith blog, I posted a report on the prayer walk that some of my brothers and sisters took on January 1, to begin the new year by seeking God's blessing for our neighborhood. Some of the comments there coincided with some thoughts that I have had following that post. That is what motivated me to create this new blog.

My intention here is to make myself available to offer up prayers that are requested by other members of this community. Almost all of us find ourselves confronted from time to time with things that are almost overwhelming to us, especially if we have to face them alone. There is great comfort in knowing that others are willing to share your burden and to seek to ease the situation with you and for you. Often these moments leave us feeling like there is not much that we can do other than pray. How much more that seems to be true in our virtual relationships.

In this new blog I do not intend to hold myself out as someone who has a special ability or power that can make a difference for anyone. In fact I don't want to really call attention to myself at all in this ministry, but to call attention to the One who has the ability and the power to make a difference. I believe that is the one God of the Bible. It is to Him that I will present petitions and supplications that are asked for by other bloggers. Please know that I am not about to assure you the outcomes of our prayers will always be what we thought we wanted them to be. If we encounter what seem to be unanswered prayers despite our persistent petitions, I will recommend that we embrace 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Perhaps one of the things we will learn is to accept the answers that we receive and determine to line up our lives with His will.

I'm not sure right now if I will make another post about prayer and its impact on life, or if I will just post prayers in the comments section below to requests that you make. We will see how it goes from here, whether there is even a need for this blog to exist.

Let us, "pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Prayer for a good man!

Our Father Who Listens,
even to the utterances of our hearts, I lift up this prayer on behalf of a loving wife who is deeply concerned about the health of her husband. His situation has been a grueling one, with some ups and some downs, and some growing doubt in the doctor that has been adminstering treatments. I am grateful for the positive developments in the past week or two and give you gratitude for that relief.

And I thank you that the gentleman has maintained a positive attitude, even in the face of the ordeal. Continue to grant him peace, and use him teach his wife trust you all the more. May the end of all the turmoil be the cause of great rejoicing on the part of both!

In the name of our Savior who calms storms, Jesus,
Amen

Seeking Him

Thank all of you for the prayers.

I just talked to my husband on the phone and he sounds much better. I even managed to break the news of a new surgery lurking in the next few days, since the doctors don't seem inclined to share little tidbits like that with him. Maybe it hasn't really sunk in yet, but he seemed more interested in letting me know that he had had some jello and tea for dinner--his first food (?) since Monday. Thanks again.

Great news...

Jeanne. Send him my regards.

Thank you FF&F

Todays report is that they are keeping him overnight again (the 4th night) because of an elevated temperature.

My husband had surgery today and could really use some of Prayer

Corner's prayer. The surgery didn't go as well as we had hoped, and they are going to have to do another procedure on the bile ducts tomorrow. He is not a happy camper, and in a lot of pain. Thanks for offering us this place to unload, FF&F. I think it is a great asset to our blog site.

Prayer for Jeanne's husband

Dear Patient Father,

Sometimes we get impatient for the answers to our prayers to be granted. As I lift up Jeanne’s husband to You today, I ask that You give him, and her, a calmness that comes from trusting You and Your timing.

In the face of news that was not as good as expected and desired, Jeanne has not turned her back on You, but determined to seek Your help all the more. On behalf of Jeanne and her husband, I ask that You grant success to the doctors as they continue to administer their skills and knowledge to his situation. And may Your comfort and peace settle on their spirits as they undergo and overcome the ordeal!

In the name of our caring Lord Jesus,
Amen

Seeking Him

Thanks FF&F.

They operated a second time today and told me there will have to be a third. I think I need some prayer to face my husband with that news. He is already going crazy with being cooped up at the hospital, but too weak to do anything about it.

More Prayers for Jeanne's Husband

Precious Lord,
We continue to bring our friend Jeanne's husband to you in prayer. He has been having to endure much pain in his body from two surgeries that have not been able to relieve his health problem. And that also produces mental anguish, both from having to face more procedures and the uncertainty about the long term outlook for healing.

So we ask that you place your hand of comfort on him, remove the anguish and any fear that may be in his heart. Provide him relief from his pains, dear Lord, and strengthen his body to be able to withstand the next procedures that are being planned. Please grant him rest tonight and help him to accept the love his wife offers as assurance of his place in her life.

In the name of Lord Jesus,
Amen

Prayer at the loss of Sonny Fai

Dear Father of Mercy,
I lift up to you today the name of Sonny Fai, whose life ended far before anyone expected. I beseech you to touch the hearts of his parents, siblings, family, teammates and friends, even the nation that loved this selfless young man. Help them in their pain and grief not to turn from you in anger, but to turn to you for comfort and direction. Do not let this incident rob those grieving of the great joys they experienced in relationship to Sonny, nor the relationships that bind them together.

May they instead cherish each moment with those they love and live life to the full, with same zest and passion he had for his game and the compassion he had for his loved ones.

Help each one that loved Sonny, take the next steps before them here, as they look forward to the next life.

I ask through the Risen Savior, Jesus,
Amen

Yea, this is good!

Made me stop and think about some things right away.

I think most of us would agree that our leaders,

not just in the U.S. but all over the world, are facing extremely perilous times, ("in the last days, perilous times will come"), and need to be upheld in prayer. Hope you will join me in this prayer. This blog seems to be a very good idea to me.

Jeanne's requested prayer for our nation

Our Lord and Father,
I come to you at this time to recognize your might and power in all the earth. May your name be glorified above all others. We think you this day our petitions on behalf of the United States of America, and specifically for her leaders. We acknowledge that they follow the you have instituted their authority and those who will be leaving us in the next few years. We pray for the health and wisdom and courage of our new President. We have the vision that embodies your will for our people, and for all those with whom we deal in this world.

We asked you to protect those that will be advising him from doing things that will be detrimental to the cause of freedom and welfare of our nation. Any dark forces that want to undermine and perhaps destroy our country. Take away any corruption or parties might infringe on our liberty. We pray that righteousness and wisdom prevail. And please continue to grant us the privilege worshiping you without fear.

We ask in the name of King Jesus,
Amen.

One near to my heart...

Please add my daughter Jo to your prayer list. She is a young adult on her own now, and she has chosen to walk the wide path.

Prayer for Jellen's Jo

Holy Father above,
we honor you this day Father, because of your creative genius, and for your deep desire for a relationship with each one you have created in Your image. You have given us a choice, Father, and presented us with evidence and opportunities to love You and to walk in the ways that will lead us to You.

Today Father, I lift up Jo, Jellen's daughter, who has reached the age of accountability and is making choices of her own. It appears Father, that she has made choices, like so many of us have, that are leading her away from You at this point in time, rather than toward You. Father, I pray that You will help her to be able to see clearly the outcome of the path that she has now chosen to walk. Give her the wisdom and courage that she needs to change her direction. Father, in these days, while she's jeopardizing her eternal relationship, I pray that you will protect her from the Evil One, help her to see the damage that he wants to do and to flee those as fast as she can.

We also lift up Jellen at this moment, we pray she will be like Job of old, who daily lifted up prayers on behalf of his offspring.

We ask humbly through Jesus,
Amen.

Seeking Him

I will pray for Jo, Jellen.

I think every one of us has a child or grandchild who has also chosen that path, and it is really heartbreaking to see them go that way. Remember, though, that nothing is impossible with God.

Thank you Jeanne and PC

You have understood the situation correctly, and a mother's heart...about an only child. I so appreciate your prayer support.

This is very nice of you.
I don't need to request any prayer for anything right now.
