Lessons Learnt

Looks like this site is becoming a haven for poets, which I think is great. I've been a little busy but I opped in quickly to post this.

There was a time when I was young
With no real worries under this sun
Off to school and I would complain
Doing chores at home such a pain

Yet there was always food on the table
Parents would hug me when they were able
If there was a problem, dad was there
Always willing to talk, he’d pull up a chair

I would grow older, and wiser too
I would learn lessons that I did pursue
No longer was life so worry free
If only I saw what life had in store for me

I would have listened to my teachers more
And the lessons from my parents would not bore
I pray that I can pass on what I know
So those who follow get less of a blow.

A nice tribute

to loving, caring parents. The American Humorist, Will Rogers once said: "There are three types of men (women), The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

I like your poem, Sire

Although you may have had some hard knocks in life, at least you had involved parents. I think it's why you turned out. And you know Sire, your kids will discover in their late 20's, how really smart their dad has become.
