Losing weight in China

I had already lost nearly 10 kgs since Christmas - by following the Great Australian Diet, and was pleased to be going to China, as it is a program based on Eastern diets that I have been following.

So one of my goals during my stay in China was to lose more weight. I was going to walk more, and eat well - trying to keep as much as possible to my program.

Well, I have walked. Walked and walked. Just in the normal course of my daily activities here. We walk to the supermarket, we walk to the bus stop and around the city, we walk to the canteen and too our classrooms.

And we climb stairs. (No elevators here) My apartment is on the fifth floor and at the end of the day after doing the climb half a dozen (at least!) times, I can feel myself getting fitter. My class room is on the fourth floor, and the canteen is on the third floor. Everywhere stairs, stairs, and more walking.

I can feel myself shrinking. My watch and rings are lose on my - as are some of my clothes.

I've not gone on the power walks I imagined - it has been far too cold - and I have not joined the students in early morning exercises. One day when it is warmer, I will walk.

Meals? Healthy Chinese food. Plenty of rice, vegetables, and meats. The occasional hamburger but mostly we stick to the food in the school canteen.

Desserts? None. Fruit - yes, but I must buy more at the markets. Sweets? No, not really.

Just think, when I do go home, perhaps the family won't recognise me!!!!
