Lost in the darkness, hoping for a sign
Instead there is only silence,
Can't you hear my screams...?[rest of song omitted]
"Somewhere" by Within TemptationCleaner than the band Evanescence, the Dutch gothic rock group is sadly unknown in the U.S. (Yes, they sing in English.) I'm pretty sure that they're not Christian, but they're still gorgeous.
And, consistent to their gothic label, they're brutally honest. For those who don't know, the female "gothic" genre (of literature, at least) initiated the entire "good vs. evil" stereotypical battle that so permeates modern literature. (Or so my lit teacher's taught me this term.)
At any rate, this song reminds me keenly of the lost man's state. "Lost in the darkness," without Christ. And I remember sharply a particular digital painting by that name, of which the below is only a less-powerful avatar the artist made from it.
(Mélanie Delon paints dark fantasy, most paintings clean, but be warned that a few have topless figures.)The lost man is in the darkness. And God does hear our screams. (Though I'll admit that I don't think Him the intended subject of that song.)
My apologies if this is as disjointed as it seems to me. I'm kinda worn out and sick at the moment.
