Man Of The Year

You thinking Obama? Stay tuned.

Man of the Year is a movie in which comedian Robin Williams decides to run for President of the United States - and wins! As a candidate he uses his humor to attack government, as well as both the Republican and Democratic candidates. While still President Elect, and not yet inaugurated, he learns that his victory was the result of a software glitch in the electronic voting system. What now?

It's a good movie and there is more to the story than that. Typical for Robin Williams, there may be more sexual innuendo/humor than you care for.

Most amazing is how the movie relates to the current Presidential election. Obama, like Robin Williams enters the contest with no experience. His only ability is to mesmerize people with empty talk of change. Like American idol, the entertainment obsessed voters get swept up into the flow, and then he wins - well maybe.

The outcome of the movie is a little surprising coming out of liberal Hollywood. Robin Williams makes one very valid comment something like - change for the sake of change is nothing!

Come November, if you are thinking about voting for Obama, I suggest you go to the movies instead.

I think putting everyone's name in a hat and drawing one would

work just as well as the system we have now, Djbtol.

Come on, Huttriver. They say that nothing is impossible.

I won't be holding my breath though.

A while back, Djbtol, a writer on this site asked if we thought

the United States was ready to accept a black president. At the time, I was a little miffed to think that outsiders thought we would vote against a man or woman because of color. Since then, I have found so many reasons to vote against Obama that it would take book to list them all, and guess what? Not one of them is because of his color.

Actually, I'm not fond of any of the candidates. I'm a dreamer I guess---still hoping against hope for that last minute Independent to emerge who will sweep in to win an overwhelming victory and solve our every problem.

Guess I will have a long wait won't I?

Certainly -

neither of the two big parties is doing right by the country. They have such a strangle hold on the process, I don't know how a third party/independent ever breaks in.

I really think most Americans could handle a black President. For most voters skin color is not the issue. Race still seems to be a big deal for some people, for instance those who have listened to Rev. Jeremiah Wright week after week, and others as well.

If we could roll the dice again and come up with three different candidiates, I would probably say go for it.
