Archaeologist now believe that the human sacrifices that the Mayan people preformed were boys not girls. Originally the belief was that the Mayan sacrificed girls and young women because the remains often were adorned with jade jewelry.

However after piecing together the bones of 127 bodies of sacrificed people Archaeologist discovered that the bodies were male not female with 80% being boys while the other 20% young men.

The Mayan were an ancient Mexican civilization that span from 850AD until Spanish colonization.
