Michigan is testing High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes in Detroit

Michigan is about to open up it’s first high occupancy vehicle lane. The purpose of high occupancy vehicle lanes is too encourage motorist too car pool. Michigan’s first high occupancy lane will only be along a 5 mile stretch of Michigan Avenue in the Detroit Central Business District. A vehicle must have at least two occupants too use the high occupancy lane.

Other states have been using high occupancy vehicle lanes for a while now. Their nice because they allow you too get through high traffic areas quickly.

We've had it here for some time and

we call them T2 lanes - taxis and cars with two or more occupants can use the lanes.
