Yesterday, Microsoft annouced a new service on the way called Live Mesh. The service will be offered through Windows Live and will be free to use.

Live Mesh is basically going to be like a virtual PC. Users can sync selected folders and files from their desktop to their online 'Virtual Desktop'.

Live Mesh is also going to have a 'Remote Connection' feature that will allow users to remote into other Live Mesh-enabled PCs that are online. Remote users will only have access to Live Mesh shared folders.

Microsoft has also said that they will be expanding Live Mesh to Macs and mobile phones in the future. Currently Live Mesh is in Beta [a big Beta, (10,000 testers)] and is only open to developers.

This does look

interesting to me, at least worth checking things out. Just another example of how computer technology is so based on the internet.

I am a little touchy right now concerning Microsoft's decision to stop selling Windows XP. It will be just a matter of time before they cut off support for XP as well. These changes help their revenue, but I don't welcome them. The price of a Microsoft operating system still is as high as ever.
