No Man More Powerful Than IKE

This is not the time to take a stubborn stance. There is a monster of a storm heading across the Gulf with its sites on Texas. No man is more powerful than the likes of Ike. Those who believe man is capable of fighting wind and waves may not account for rising floodwaters or tornados that could flatten what waves and wind spare.

There's still time to make an exit inland. Why not take a mini-vacation? The Pacific Northwest is experiencing great weather at the moment. Come visit our West Coast for a bit and let this monster storm move on past your community.

For those inland somewhat, candles will be needed with all the power outages. Have plenty of resources handy for it could be days or weeks until power is returned.

Our prayers are with our southern neighbors.

Those on Galveston Island and low lying areas need to leave now!

There is already 3 feet of water in the streets of the business district of the island and it is 16 to 18 hours till the storm makes official landfall.

Cat 3 Water Coming

The news is telling of Cat 3 water coming, even if Cat 3 winds don't come. Wave action and water heights will take buildings into high surf.

Please consider the capability of this disaster if you have not made arrangements for getting out of storm's way. And please, if you have children or disabled to care for, consider them. They have no choice but what is chosen for them.

Also consider how a fire could be fought. It likely can't be.

There is still time to get out, I agree with FF&F.
