No One Else

Way back--in another blogworld, I entered this in a poetry challenge, in which the rhyming words were provided by other participants:

No One Else
Submitted by familyfunandfaith on Thu, 2006-05-25 21:25

We came to a meeting of the minds
because our hearts were full of love.
We each saw ourselves as one who finds
a deep hunger that we could not remove.

We placed upon the license our mark,
Our resolve could not be shaken.
Even if we heard our parents bark,
no steps to separate would be taken.

The blush of youth was on our cheeks,
we really had no clue of what was to come.
But through the years, months, & weeks
we dealt with both the joys and the doom.
All the wrinkles and gray hair have proved
There is no one else we'd have rather loved.

Before the challenge, Elly

I had never written a poem beyond a roses are red type as a little boy. I found the challenge a lot of fun. I wrote maybe thirty or forty. Not many of them were worth reprinting, but I liked this one.
