Nuclear power plants provide the United States with 20 percent of its electricity and are responsible for 70 percent of the non-greenhouse gas producing sources of electricity.

However nuclear power is definitely not “green” energy not by a long shot. For example 27 of the nations 104 commercial reactors at 65 plant sites have leaked tritium into the environment. Tritium like other radioactive isotopes can cause cancer.

In my opinion Nuclear power is just too dangerous. Look at what happened at Chernobyl. We must invest in safer sources of power such as solar, wind and bio fuels.
