First swine flu victim for New Zealand winter...

A Bay of Plenty woman has become the first person this winter to die from complications after contracting swine flu

The woman died from complications after contracting the H1N1 virus.

The Bay of Plenty medical officer of health, Dr Phil Shoemack, does not believe the woman had any other contributing medical conditions. She had been in hospital for a few weeks before her death.

Kiwis who are eligible for free flu shots get one that includes anti-swine flu vaccine as well.
