Sarah Palin reckons its time to take off the gloves - a "moosehead" in my humble opinion...

Republican VP nominee, Sarah Palin reckons now is the time to take off the gloves. Loose cannon? Maybe!

As a foreigner looking in, I reckon her claims that Barack Obama was palling up to terrorists are inane and counterproductive to the Republican cause.

It is a sign that the campaign was turning nasty and may well see support for the Republicans falling even further. The Democrats dismiss the claims as just gutter politics!

Palin reckons its time to take off the gloves - just days after both presidential candidates called for a halt to partisan politics in the interests of ensuring the financial package can be passed.

I reckon she is a bit of a "moosehead" who could never be capable of stepping in as an alternative president if McCain was elected.

Well we shall see...

what happens in coming weeks. I did read that John McCain has had about four bouts of cancer. He has the experience to be president, but I don't think his running mate could be trusted or rather, have the ability to take over as president. History will be the judge. I don't join blogging sites on the basis of their political affinity. I believe that I can manouvre myself through difficult waters at times. I was the victim of some incredible verbal abuse while at WritingUP because I criticised radical Islamic elements. I weathered the storm then and I believe I will in the future.

That's why I don't

Like to blog over there Hutts. More conservative voters blog on this site, and we are nice enough here not to attack each other. I made one political comment there and the attackers came out in whole pack.

What makes her a Moosehead, Hutt?

I think of a moosehead as some kind of trophy hanging on a wall--unless, of course, it is still attached to the moose.

A trophy for the left...

or a thickhead, perhaps? Remember I comment as a foreigner from a country that is also experiencing economic turmoil at present. We are also into an election campaign as well, but neither the left or the right is resorting to the tactics of your right wing party at present. That is not to say that they won't if they find themselves pushing the 'proverbial' up hill. We have nearly five weeks to go and have our elections on Nov 8, a few days after yours.

Ours is a full parliamentary elections to elect the prime minister and government for three years. Yours is for the leadership of the country and half your government.

In the US you are looking for credible alternatives to George Bush and his government. In your system you also have to consider the credibility and ability of somebody who could step in and take over if something happened to your president ie JFK.

I dont see Mrs Palin as having that ability or, indeed, the credibility to take over as president.I see John McCain as being vulnerable because of his previous health problems and also because of his age; could he handle the enormous stress of the job as President of the United States of America? Bit doubtful? Thats how I see it, 6,000 miles away.

You might take a look at John McCain's mother. She is over 90

and still quite lively. John McCain's doctors recently pronounced him healthy and very likely to live much longer than the next 4 years. The truth is, that none of us have any guarantee that we will be around tomorrow.

So far, even though I don't like negative campaigning, Mrs. Palin has not said anything about Barak Obama that is not true.

Unfortunately, our Democratic candidate has promised people lower taxes, universal health care, and that he will end the war. People actually believe he will make these things happen, but he has already gone back on ending the war and now says it will have to be a gradual withdrawal. With the government head-over-heels in debt, universal health care without raising taxes for everybody, seems a bit pie-in-the-sky to me. If he can do it, more power to him.

The main thing wrong with the Bush adminstration, is that, from day one, the Democrats have fought him every step of the way. They refused, and are still refusing, to admit that he was elected fairly, and the hatred toward him began even before he had a chance to do anything at all.

The democrats promised the country that if they got into power two years ago, they would end the war immediately, change the economy, etc. They have actually done very little beyond argue and bicker, and continue to support the war while claiming to be against it.

I see they are now trying to blame McCain for the first failed vote on the recent bail-out package. The truth is that the democrats have a majority in Congress and could have passed the bill without even discussing it if they had wanted to. I shudder to think of the gridlock our country will face if we also end up with a democrat for President.

I am with ya, Jeanne

In agreement with all your points...

I can only give...

an outside opinion. I like McCain if only because he is from an older generation tied up in Vietnam. I had a brother and brother-law in that conflict; they both died of illness a few years later.
