Season's Greetings - what are you doing for Christmas?

Christmas is a wonderful time for most people, but not all. I often think of those people who are trying to experience the Christmas spirit, but do not have loved ones to share it with. Especially anyone who has lost a loved one during the year.

I think of one special lady in my life whose wonderful husband passed away recently. She will have other family around her, but it will be the first time in 50 years that she has not had this man in her life. I just can't imagine how that would be.

As well Christmas in season's past has not always been happy for some, and sad memories will appear at this time.

There are so many people alone, or destitute for whom this season is most uncomfortable, though I know many church and charitable organisations try to make a difference in the lives of these people.

There is always something that we can do to help others. Even if it is having a lonely friend, join you for part of the festivities.

This year we will be travelling early in the morning to visit one set of grandchildren to see them open their presents and then travelling an hour or so to see the other family enjoy their present opening, and having breakfast with them.

We will return to our home later in the day, and will be joined by a friend of mine, who has often shared Christmas Day with us, as her family lives some distance away, and she would otherwise be on her own.

No big meal for us. Just a platter of gourmet foods, and a glass or two of wine.

Simple, enjoyable. With friends and family for the day.

Season's Greetings to all who visit BlogEvolve.

May 2008 be the best year yet!

Make sure it is a good one, Hutts.

I have a nephew living in Auckland now and his mother is flying over from Melbourne to spend Christmas with him. Do you have a Hub at Hubpages?
