I read with amusement that a school in the UK has banned parents wearing pyjamas (or pajamas depending on where you live) or any other sleepwear when attending school, or even dropping their children off. The UK supermarket TESCO have also banned shoppers who come in pj's, nightgown, slippers etc from shopping in their stories. A dress code for shopping?????
The reality is that for some people there are no standards. The rigid Victorian era has well and truly gone and on a daily basis I see folk who are clearly without standards for themselves and their families.
I'm always appalled at the sight of young girls with little clothing to cover themselves. I mean some girls have their butts showing under skimpy shorts or skirts, and revealing cleavages. I remember when it was taboo to have a bra strap showing, but the young and the "trendy" see no problem with this casual and provocative way of dressing.
It is fashionable to wear clothing with rips or holes, and jeans or other pants that reveal underwear when the wearer bends over.

Night Clothes?
To the store and school? Are they kidding?
Apparently not
and I wonder what we will see next. Nude shopping?

I sometimes am appalled at the way folks dress in public, Elly
and there are all manner of issues that drive the trends. Last year in the public elementary schools where our grandsons went, they had a pajama day, in which the kids were encouraged to wear pj's and slippers to school for the day!

We too have "special" clothes days
and generally they are to raise funds for charity, but in public other than that I don't think is helpful to societies that are losing their values.

Yes there should be ...
some standards of dress, Elly.
I'm sorry Hutts
I don't agree with you. I too have been a working mother with two children to get to school in the mornings and it takes little time to dress appropriately. I'd never go outside my house in my sleepwear.

I was really only being...
sympathetic to some modern mothers. No, we come from a diferent generation where we do dress tidy before going out.

It seems a bit over the top...
because some parents are in a bit of a rush with a number of children to get breakfast for, organise lunch and drive them to school. Many parents just throw a jacket over their pyjamas and away.
