Shortest Verse? Or Most Powerful?

John 11:35 has its reputation as being the shortest verse in the Bible. Last night, a minister mentioned something about it that we often don't think of: it's among the most powerful Scriptures.

What is John 11:35? "Jesus wept."

Jesus wept. He mourned the death of his friend Lazarus. Jesus knew the death was temporary—but he still grieved. He experienced the pain of loved ones' passing just as we do.

He knows exactly how we feel when a friend, a family member, a minister is ill, hurt, (maybe) dying, dead. He knows. He's been there.

And He is our comforter.

These are the words the comforter spoke to my heart before and during a most difficult experience in life.

"Trust Me in this."
