Coming back to "earth" or Australia!

I am currently trying to re orientate myself back into home territory after four months working in China, a week's holiday in Shanghai and another week's holiday in Singapore and the flight home. My body clock is awry and I'm having trouble sleeping despite my fatigue - but any traveller will understand how it is.

Big snake bites little snake

Nah. Too corny. This true story came to light in the last day or so and has been reported in both the Courier Mail and the Cairns Post about a man who ran into the bushes in northern Queensland to "go" as you could say, and a deadly brown snake crawled between his legs and struck.

I posted about ANZAC Day down under a few weeks ago, when we honour our fallen heroes from all wars on April 25 every year.

It was the law that aboriginal children be taken from their parents, especially "half caste" children, and there was talk of destroying the aboriginal race by encouraging interbreeding with white Australians.

Australia - A land of contrasts

Aussies have just celebrated Australia Day. Commemorating the day that Captain Cook landed on Australian soil.

We celebrate all things Australian in a myriad of ways. People fly or wear the Australian flag - we have BBQ's (with lamb?), we sing Aussie songs, and shout a lot of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Ois, watch cricket on television or play backyard cricket.

Why do you live where you live?

I live in Brisbane, Australia. Mostly by choice. I am originally from Adelaide South Australia, and my husband was from the coal mining area of Yallourn Victoria, which no longer exists as the coal under the town was worth more than the town.
