valentine's day

What Do You Call a Scrooge/Grinch Who Despises Valentine's Day?

In general, I love holidays. And I really enjoy planning days and coming up with ways to demonstrate to my wife that I am deeply in love with her. I cherish her, I don't take her for granted, she is the best thing that ever happened to me, & I am the luckiest man ever!

Wounded Heart?

Valentine's Day can be a wonderful day with all of the attention towards love, romance, relationships and candy. That is why people like to celebrate it. It is a great opportunity to express love to those special people in our lives.

History of valentine's day

Ever Wonder Who St. Valentine Was? Or why so many people get all mushy around the second week of February? Here's a brief synopsis:
St. Valentine was actually two people (that weren't romantically involved) who were martyred on the same day (c. 270). Feasts commemorating them were celebrated on February 14. One was a priest and physician who died in Rome during the persecution of Christians by Claudius II Grothicus. The other was the bishop at Terni, Italy who was also martyred in Rome. Both have been buried at different places along the Flaminian Way.

The Foggy History Of V-Day

So you celebrate (or refuse to celebrate) Valentine’s Day on February 14; but February 14 is only one of many “Valentine’s Days” recognized by the Catholic Church. Let’s see there January 7, May 2, July 16, August 31, September 2, October 25, November 1, November 3, November 13, and December 16. Geez!! There are a lot of saints named Valentine, which leads me to believe that if you name your child “Valentine” they’re destined for Sainthood!
