Living with the cold!

The folk here know I come from Australia - the subtropics in fact where it is "beautiful one day, perfect the next" and while our summers are hot and steamy (typical sub tropical weather - it is currently 25 degrees and it is 10 pm), our winters are wonderful.

Linking overkill

I am going to have a bit of a rant here, but I suspect the person who should be reading and taking heed of the message will not bother. He/she does not read anything here.

This person posts quite good articles here sometimes, (though I haven't checked to see if they are original or not) - but at the end of the post are hundreds of links.

Some things are offensive to me

There are days when we foreigners get a bit angry or confused about life in China. Their culture is so different to ours that we forget we are in an Asian country that has been isolated from the west for many years, and have had to deal with a whole lot of things that our countries have not.

Happy New Year 2009 Greetings

Happy New Year to all!

Isn't it a wonderful time? We can reflect on 2008, and make wondrous plans for 2009. A new year - a new enthusiasm.

Most new years, I have many plans, but on this occasion, I am quite vague about my plans. In some ways too many things to contemplate, but I do reflect on an amazing year.

The tragic story of an Egyptian Child Slave in the US.

I have heard before that in Africa many rich families take on young girls from poor families to do their housework, but the story of this little girl in China Daily website is quite horrific.

Another guessing game - what is it?

The Chinese Christmas

I had wondered how my Christmas 2008 would be. Me in China and all my family in Australia. I'd heard too that there would be little recognition of this Christian festival in China - how wrong the information turned out to be.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all BE Bloggers and readers. May this Christmas be very happy for you and your families, and that your celebration of the Birth of Jesus be full of joy and love.

The Chinese people, who love any festival or celebration are very much involved in the celebrations this year, and though few are Christians, they know the story of baby Jesus and his birth in the stable in Bethlehem.
