The return of the American Bison is a success story in conservation

The American Bison four hundred years ago numbered around 74 million and roamed all over the North American plains. But at the turn of the 20 century their numbers were down to around 1,000 and many people thought the American Bison would be extinct soon. However now in the early years of the 21 century the American Bison population is around 500,000 which is wonderful.

The return of the American Bison is truly a great success story in conservation.
