There is a nice little story which in some way represents the world and the people, their behavior and follow the crowd sindrom. It goes like this,

Once upon a time there was a king ruling his kingdom, and in the middle of the kingdom there was a well from which everybody drank water.
One day, a witch poisoned the well because the king wanted to kick her out of the kingdom.
Then the next day everybody drank water from the well, except the King, and everybody went mad except him. At that moment people noticed that their king was behaving strange to them and they started saying 'Our king has gone mad, we have to find a new king'. Now, the king realised that he has no other choice, if he wants to remain on the throne, but to drink the poisonous water, and so he did.
The next day people were all happy because their king was normal again. And they all probably lived happily ever after.
