There's something about Cruise Ships.

Cruise Ships are like floating cities. They play a major role in the tourism industry and take millions of passengers to various parts of the world all year round. There are hundreds of ships in operation and vary from small ships carrying a small number of passengers to larger ones taking thousands of people.

Ships have amazing facilities. Passengers have modern cabins with ensuite, television, and internet access and a range of facilities. There are high class cabins, with sea views, and at the other end of the scale, 4 berth cabins with frugal facilities for those people with limited budgets, or who travel in a family or other group.

On board these ships you will find shops, beauty salons, movie theatre/s, swimming pools, gymnasiums, hospital and medical centres fully staffed with on board medical practitioner, a casino with gaming machines, theatre for live performances, dance floor, huge restaurants, bars, a library, child care, children’s entertainment, florist, health spa and more. You will be able to have a massage from a massage therapist, help with your exercise with a personal trainer, and more. Some ships have snack bars, and coffee lounges, photographic shops. In fact the larger ships endeavour to provide for every need of the sea traveller.

You need to check the on board facilities when you do your research if you wish to take a cruise, or when you book.

Part of the excitement of cruising is visiting different ports, and the towns and cities of that country. Day and other tours can be organised on board.

Eating on board is a tremendous experience. The restaurants are huge, and generally the fare is wonderful. In many cases it is fine dining every night.

Travel documents such as passports are generally essential for travelling – but all this information will be provided by the travel agent.

If you’ve never cruised before, visit a travel agent and get some brochures on cruising. There are many short cruises so that you can “test” whether cruising is for you. There are many people who take regular cruises, and some who live permanently on board some special cruise ships like “The World”. One of these days

Can't wait until I can take my wife on one of these cruises. Would like to go to Alaska. Course if I got off the boat I probably wouldn't want to get back on.

I have taken one

cruise up the Inside Passage to Alaska, and it was just as you described. Well worth taking a cruise at least once.
