Three Fingers Pointing Back

You have probably heard this caution, and may have even used it yourself - Be careful when you point your accusing finger at another, because three fingers are pointing back at you.

Since Obama has misplaced his halo, he is feeling some real pressure to elevate himself by tearing down the opponents.

His first straightforward attack against Governor Sarah Palin was:

“I know the governor of Alaska has been, you know, saying she is change,” Obama said at a town hall meeting here. “And that is great. She is a skillful politician. But when you [have] been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person.

So the accusation is that she took earmarks in her previous roles and the expectation is that if she truly were opposed to earmarks, then she would have refused that money.

Apparently Palin did request earmark funds as mayor and did not begin rejecting them until she was governor. A McCain spokesman added these facts:

"Barack Obama has requested the equivalent of $1 million in new pork barrel spending for every working day he's been in the U.S Senate, while John McCain has never once asked for an earmark, and Gov. Palin has vetoed hundreds of millions in government spending, including killing the infamous 'bridge to nowhere,'" spokesman Tucker Bounds said. "Just like so many other issues, Barack Obama is all talk, has no record to back it up and isn't ready to make change."

These facts alone show that Obama shouldn't bring up the topic of earmarks in the campaign. To be really fair let's apply Obama's standard to himself: How many times has he fought to get earmarks assigned to Illinois rejected?

We should all be thankful for any person who can help us blow through the smoke and mirrors of politics and see who the real people are. How disgusting the notion of a presidential candidate that would wear a mask throughout his campaign. Obama has.

Your analysis is right on the mark, djbtol

The governor's genuineness is a pleasure to behold. I hope she can sustain her start for the next sixty days!

You are right...

stick to your own standards whatever is happening around you.! Expediency has a habit of coming back and biting you on your backside. This applies to both McCain and Obama!
