Time for Flowers.

Chrystanthemum

Pot of Chrysanthemums

Time for some flowers? Chrysanthemums are flowering prolifically here at the moment and I took these photos near a car park last week. They are pretty easy to grow from seed, or from cuttings, so if you are interested in knowing more this website might help you.

I note that the flowers I am seeing are not familiar to me – there are many interesting varieties here in China, which I think is the “home” of Chrysanthemums.

At home in Australia the flower around May – which is around Mother’s Day time there. They are often referred to as “Mums” as their name is long and for some difficult to pronounce, so it is good that they flower so much around Mother’s Day.

Mums are pretty popular in the United States, too.

They are one of the plants still being sold around town this late in the year, because they withstand the Fall weather so well. I don't care for their smell though.
