In the United States were I live the legal drinking age is 21. Back during the Vietnam War the legal age was dropped down too 18 then raised back up too 21 in 1984.
In Canada the drinking age is 19. I’m not sure what the drinking age is in Mexico but I thinks its 18.
What is the drinking age in your country?

NZ is reconsidering raising the age...
back to 20 years after being 18 years for many years. The problems of drinking gets forced downwards to young teens. The old law was that 18-20 yrs had to be with adults on licenced premises. Young people's drinking is totally out of hand here - they drink to get wasted, and some bars have licences until 4 am; so drunks are hitting the streets at that time too.

The legal age here is 21, also. It does seem strange
that you are allowed to join any military service at 18, but not allowed to drink. (Not that "not allowed" has any real meaning.)
Every year in our town, a University town, the police are kept busy trying to ride herd on 17 and 18 year-old college students who are breaking free of parental supervision for the first time and who seem to take their new freedom as a license to party all night long.
By partying, I mean they become drunk, out of control, belligerent, wild, sometimes throwing bottles, destroying property, setting fires, fighting, etc. They seem to think it is part of the "college experience." They would probably be shocked to realize that, rather than proving they are finally "grown up," they are actually showing the world just how immature they really are.
Also think about how many of
Also think about how many of those kids are out driving drunk....Maybe we should increase the drinking age too 31 LOL...

Too scary to think about, Toad.
Maybe they could start cutting down on the alcohol in alcoholic drinks a tiny bit at a time until they were alcohol free. Some people probably wouldn't catch on for quite a while.
It is 18 here in
Australia. and there is some discussion about making it 20 years - there are major problems with young people binge drinking.
