What's The Point?

What is the point of creating a carefully crafted and well-researched article only to have it pushed off the front page by those who flood the boards with lots of posts all at once? I would suggest there is no point at all. It seems a complete waste of time. It can take a couple of days to properly research and write an article and then hone it until you are happy with the content and the way that the article reads.

We all understand that when the muse strikes a person might write three or four articles in one day and then nothing for a few days. To post ten or fifteen articles every day seems a little excessive, especially when they are someone else’s work.

It is particularly galling when the article which you have spent hours working on is pushed off by content which is copied or pure advertising.

If I post used articles...

they will be my own from other sites. I have been advised to make some alterations ,especially in the headings. if I use other peoples I will give them full credit for the writing.

The idea is to actually give a brief summary or a part of an article and then link your post to that article.

on posting articles.Stops the splogger

I don't know if it is working

as Nagawhatsit's posts have appeared on BF under another name and I'm not sure that the 20 minute function is active. They have been flagged though at BF.

Indeed they have Elly and also at BP. It is not just here.

He is being a pain everywhere.

Articles written by others are

not against the TOS here, as long as the article is correctly credited, but the issue here is really that these people come and post a number of posts in quick succession pushing others off the board. They ought to realise several things - few people read their material (so I would wonder why they bother), and they quickly lose any support they might get from bloggers here. We actually have the power to do something about them - whingeing and complaining to a rarely seen admin is pointless - if we were all as active here as we should be - we could quickly push them off the board. We all need to have one or two posts prepared to post.

Thank-you for clarifying that point Elly, I wasn't sure as some

of the other sites insist that your blog must be primarily your own work

What about repeating our own articles, Elly?

I have one called, "What ever happened to good manners?" Will I be banned if, every time a certain blogger posts 5 or more entries in a row, I plug in my manners article? Maybe if each of us did that, it would push him or her quickly off the board and we would have time to add a few posts of our own. We could put an (R) after the title to show why we are posting the same article yet another time.

I think repeating one's own articles doesn't help.

But you could write a few lines about something in our previous article - perhaps highlighting some aspect of the post - and putting a link into it. I think frequent good posts is what we need. I know that everone here is not a "professional writer" - but it doesn't take to long to write 75 words - of good sense and good content - to make a post. Now BF is up and running BE has been deserted a bit - as there are no as many post as before.

I think you are right Elly.

we need to write more posts and more comments.

One aspect of making money

from blogging is obviously to have regular new postings. However, that is only one factor. If I post 100 articles, but have not made them interesting and something that people would benefit from and enjoy, then I will not have readers, and I will not make any money.

It is my understanding that using an article that includes credit for the author is perfectily legit. It does not mean that a lot of articles will make a successful blog.

If admin does not want to moderate what goes on here, then the blogging community should have that option. The other option is to have a mandatory time delay in between posts from any given person. That would certainly help.

The time delay is of no value

as sometimes there are many hours between posts. Unless BE users are posting frequently it really slows things down. I might have two pieces to post but don't want them to appear one after the other on the boards, sometimes I have to wait for hours and hours. We need more users to dedicate at least one post a day here.

You are so wright, Hatsrus

And it is happening on all the blog sites. Most of the multiple posts by the same persons that we are seeing are copied from other websites. Our administrator is failing us by not putting a stop to this. Some think it is okay since they are copying the material from free sites where you are allowed to use the material, but I don't think this was the way they expected it to be used. I have been posting the sources from some of them, but it gets old after a while and it is easier to just give up and leave the site to them. After all the real bloggers leave, who will be left to read and click on their material?
