When People are power Hungry

In this day in age, we are in the computer age. Things were different now than it was many years ago. With the eruption of the internet, the way people did things changed.

There are people who actually make their living online and others make their living the traditional way. I have made some money online, but it’s only peanuts at the moment.

I design message board Skins. Themes and Styles. They are all the same, but each board has a different name for the same idea.

Getting on target here, that is not really what this entry is really about, but all of that leads us to the next part of this post.

Its more about how some people are just power hungry and it does evolve around the internet. I role play star trek which usually consists of writing a post up on a message board. I simm as it’s what it’s called. I simm on numerous sites and seen a lot of good and bad that is involved in simming.

There is a lot of drama that seems to floating around in this genre of rpg. People complain that people are stealing their idea or ships and among other things. Then there is the problem with people just fighting with each other in general.

A lot of the problems with the rpgs or any site in general is the administrators. When is it too much of them being power hungry. Everyone understands rules, but there is a line that needs to be drawn there.

An administrator of a forum can set rules for the message board, but yet they are the ones breaking them. Where is it that is fair they can break the rules and yet if members broke the rules they’d be gone.

I am not going to go into what Star Trek RPG this is, but if someone resigns from a simm they automatically ban people from their board. Now that is going way too far. I can understand if someone was causing major trouble maybe, but that is not the case. They just banned them because they decided to leave.

For me, it has to be major before I even think of banning anyone. To this day, I have hardly banned anyone from my site. The only ones I have done that to are for the people that hurt me in the first place.

As for banning someone for leaving, that’s just plain childishness.

Most just dont want...

responsibility of power in a position - they dont mind working for an organisation such as a charity or a political party's branch.

I came across this applicable quote:

"Power does not corrupt men; fools, however, if they get into a position of power, corrupt power."

Certainly well said, djbtol,

adn I also find that many people do not support people in power (I mean at a local level). I have found as president of community organisation that the rest of the committee often leave it to the president to do all - and then when it is not done to someone's liking they rebel/complain etc.)

In community organizations

of various types you may find that those least willing to help are the first to complain. (Sad, but true) The other situation that comes to mind is how can the leader and the other participants really bond as a team. People come with very different attitudes, expectations, goals and levels of enthusiasm. To some extent, that is the challenge for a good leader to pull the group together. I am musing here, not speaking from experience.

It is interesting

to observe the way human nature flows from the fingertips through the keyboard and into our internet activities - whether role playing games or other internet activities. The internet is just a communication device for people.
