Will China really be ready for the coming Beijing Olympics...

I read of Chinese anger with worsening pollution back in 2007 which was allegedly fuelling increasing protest there, the nations top environmental official claimed.

He criticised local governments who had protected factories which were turning rivers into sticky polluted glue.

Credible claims? I think it is hard to decipher fact from fiction in that vast and populous country. Policy or propaganda? Who knows really!

But the most important thing back in 2007 was the impending Olympic games in Beijing during this coming year. Will China be ready for the big event? We will find out in due course.

What a challenge for the people of China

only in the last couple of days I saw television footing of teaching Chinese police officers to smile, using chopsticks in the mouth to get that perfect smile. I think the Games will be impressive, but I doubt that they will control the air pollution by then.
