It gets dark early this time of year up here in Michigan. By 5:30 it’s pitch black out. The Winter solstice is on the first day of winter December 21 after which the days will slowly get longer.
Many people up here actually have tanning beds in their homes too deal with the lack of sun we get this time of year. Personally I don’t have a tanning bed because I don’t believe that their safe.

I wouldn't trust tanning beds...
any more than the sun. With my skin cancer problems I can understand that my Scandanavian and Celtic ancestors probably didn't either. Michigan is OK, just put some more clothes on, Toad! How's tricks?

Tanning beds should be banned!
My daughter has had quite a few melanomas cut from her body - and the culprit? Tanning beds. I did not know that she was doing this when she was living away from home, and now she (and we!) suffer the consequences.

Toad, I'm with you. I don't think they are safe either.
You should consider moving to the West Coast. It has been sunny part of every day lately here in Oregon, even though we have been getting a little rain also. The temperature has been around 50 by noon every day for several weeks.

And I've never used a tanning bed or plan to. I believe they have "risk" written all over them.
